Barkz Dog Playground

Our Dog Playground is an indoor off-leash space for dogs to have fun and release excess energy. We have toys, balls, a ramp set, treats, agility obstacles, and more! Our playground supervisors are there to make sure the dogs have fun and stay safe.

Our programs include:

  • Puppy play groups - your puppy will have fun and learn to socialize
  • Breed play groups - dogs love to play with their own breed
  • Training classes - puppy training all the way to advanced behavior
  • Doggy dates - reserve the playground for your dog and his/her best pals

... plus birthday parties and more!

All dogs must have a Barkz membership to join playgroups. We do not allow exceptions to this, to make sure that every dog is properly vaccinated and properly socialized with other dogs. This keeps the play area fun for everyone.

Becoming a Member

  • Step 1: Call or email us to set up an appointment. We schedule appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursday mornings, and Friday evenings.
  • Step 2: Complete an application form. We will need your vet's name and phone number so we can request vaccination records.
  • Step 3: Be sure your dog is current with all his/her vaccinations (see below). Also, all dogs that are 6 months and over must be spayed or neutered.
  • Step 4: Complete a Playground Evaluation with your dog. Claire, our playground manager, will ask a few questions to get to know your dog and determine which playgroup would be the best fit. Claire will also review how playgroups work and what you can expect.

Membership costs $10 for one year.

Vaccinations

If your dog doesn't have all his/her vaccinations, or if they are out-of-date, our staff will ask you to update them. We have to ask you to do this, for your dog's safety and for the safety of our other canine guests.

We require the same vaccinations as most other daycares and boarding facilities: DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies, Flea/tick prevention and a fecal float. For puppies, it is fine if the vaccinations have been started - you don't have to wait until it is complete. However, we encourage your puppy to have their Bordetella vaccine at 12 weeks, preferably by injection as the intranasal one can easily be sneezed out. Bordetella is an airborne virus that is highly contagious, and can be spread by meeting dogs on the street, in the park or on a walk as well as at kennels and daycares. Bring your vet's name or phone number and we'll contact them to make sure your dog is protected.

Please Note: All vaccines need 7-10 days to stimulate a response from the immune system. So please be sure to keep your dog up-to-date so you don't miss any playgroups.

For more about safety, please read our Playground Safety Rules.

Barkz Dog University

Dog Training Classes are available at Barkz. We offer puppy training, adult obedience and leash-walking classes, a good canine citizen course, and a class for seniors. Class size is small, normally only 5-7 dogs, so everyone gets individual attention from the trainer. See below for class dates and descriptions.

Please register in advance as space is limited. To register, call us at 425.822.0292 or email us or fill out an application form and fax it to 425.463.4201. Classes are non-refundable.

Puppy I (for puppies 7 weeks to 16 weeks) - $140

Puppy I is designed for you and your puppy to learn concepts such as proper socialization, manners, etiquette around the home, basic commands (sit, stay, down, come, give, wait, heel etc.) first in a controlled environment, then with more distractions. We will also address any issues that arise when owning a puppy. Early socialization for puppies is crucial for their development.

The first night of puppy class is the orientation and only owners are to attend. The orientation evening discusses issues such as potty training, biting, barking, destructive behavior, nutrition and diet, grooming, health and questions that may have rose since you brought your puppy home.

With this class your puppy will receive a FREE playground evaluation to determine which puppy playgroup they would best fit. Puppy playgroups are Mondays and Wednesdays for $5 for 30 minutes. This is an excellent chance to socialize your puppy with puppies of the same age and the same play style in a clean and safe space. Plus they will release some of their excess puppy energy.

*First Class - do not bring your puppies
*Classes are non refundable and there are no make up classes.
*Pictures and testimonials of classes are on our blog!
*10% off all products (excluding food) the first night of class.

Duration: 1 hour in length for 6 weeks.

Oh Behave I (for puppies and dogs 6 months and over) - $130

Oh Behave I is a basic obedience class for older puppies and adult dogs new to training or in need of a refresher course. We will make sure you and your dog are developing a good, healthy relationship while teaching basic behaviors like sit, down, stand, wait, walking on a loose leash, leave-it, take it, and come.

Along with instilling manners, socialization and basic commands this class enables you to complete these actions in a controlled environment, then in a highly distracted environment. We also teach your dog to old these actions for longer periods of time.

The first night of the Oh Behave I class is the orientation and only owners are to attend. The orientation evening discusses issues such as potty training, biting, barking, destructive behavior, nutrition, grooming, health and questions that may have rose since you brought your dog home.

Level II (for dogs older than 6 months) - $130

Level II is a continuation of Puppy I and Oh Behave I. We work our dogs around more distractions, longer duration of behaviors, and learning new behaviors and commands. The dogs are given mental challenges to stretch their abilities. This builds a dog and owner team that can work through real-life situations such as banks, Kirkland retail stores, parks and street intersections.

Dogs are exposed to a variety of obstacles and unfamiliar objects to help broaden their outlook. Dogs will experience different surfaces, challenge their coordination with obstacles, learn body awareness and just the fun of learning. Confidence is built by encountering new equipment in a safe low-risk environment. The Level II class will spend a session on tricks and some agility training.

*Students - please bring your dog's bed or mat to class. You will need your treat bag, a 6' leash and a variety of treats. Please do not feed your dog before class.

*Classes are non refundable and there are no make up classes.
*10% off all products (excluding food) the first night of class.
